The EU will allocate 980 million euros for the development of energy infrastructure
The European Commission will allocate 980 million euros for the construction of energy infrastructure of international importance.
The projects are implemented as part of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) energy program for 2014–2020.
The EC will choose projects that will be of interest to at least two EU countries, increase competitiveness, strengthen the energy security of member countries and contribute to the sustainable development of energy systems.
Presented research and construction energy projects will be evaluated according to several additional criteria, such as the development stage, a positive impact on the reliability of energy supply and the strengthening of European unity, the development of innovative technologies. The degree of public support and relevance of the project will also be taken into account.
The projects included in the Projects of Common Interest (PCIs), which is updated every two years, will be allowed to be considered. The provisional PCI list was approved by the European Commission in October 2019 and will enter into force on March 31, 2020.
Projects are financed from the funds of the CEF Energy program.
The competition for the selection of projects that will be included in CEF Energy 2020 will be open until May 27, 2020.
